Job Description

The Wellington Health Care Alliance (WHCA) is comprised of two corporations with more than 1,000 staff, physicians and volunteers, operating three vibrant acute care hospital sites: Groves Memorial Community Hospital (Fergus), and North Wellington Health Care (Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest & Palmerston and District Hospital in Palmerston).   We are embarking upon a new phase of growth with the Spring 2020 opening of our new 155,000 s.f. greenfield Groves Hospital, and a redeveloped Mount Forest site, to be completed in 2021. 

We are currently recruiting a Vice President, Clinical Services & Chief Nursing Executive (CNE).  Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the VP CNE is a key member of the Senior Management Team, and:

  • Provides strategic direction for all Patient Care Services within the portfolio including surgical, obstetrics, medical, ICU, CCC, emergency, mental health, ambulatory care, oncology, pharmacy, diagnostic imaging, laboratory and infection prevention and control services;
  • Provides vision and leadership in clinical services integration across both the WHCA and the local health system, and acts as the primary liaison with our partners in the development of a Rural Wellington Ontario Health Team;
  • Serves as Chief Nursing Executive for both Corporations to ensure that all clinical services comply with their respective professional standards, pertinent legislation, regulations, by-laws, policies and procedures;
  • Provides leadership and oversight of all Patient Experience, Safety, Quality and Performance Improvement activities, including our Patient and Family Advisory Council;
  • Fulfills the role as acting Chief Executive Officer during absences;
  • Champions a culture of innovation and adoption of best practices throughout our organizations as we transform to meet the needs of our residents;
  • Participates as a member of our Medical Advisory Committees and acts as a key liaison to all Professional Staff and their Credentialing;
  • Provides leadership for operational readiness activities, for all services within the portfolio, in preparation for the move into the new Groves Hospital;

You have five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in acute care hospitals, and are looking for a new challenge to grow and advance your career. You are described as compassionate, respectful, innovative, professional and collaborative – which align with the values of WHCA.  You are a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, and have attained or are in the process of completing a post graduate degree.  You understand the importance of supporting staff across multiple sites and have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
