Vice President, Strategic Affairs

As the representative of Ontario’s physicians, the Ontario Medical Association advocates for the health of Ontarians and provides leadership for an accessible, high quality health-care system. All physicians in Ontario, along with residents and medical students, form the OMA membership.

The OMA plays a vital advocacy and leadership role, advancing the interests of physicians as a key stakeholder group in the health system. Together with the Ministries of Health and Long Term Care, and other partners in the health-care system, the OMA informs and shapes policy decisions that positively impact the care provided to all Ontarians.   The organization directs significant efforts towards activities that influence health reform and support, guide, engage, and enable physicians to take a leadership role in advancing the system.

The Vice President, Strategic Affairs will have shared accountability for oversight and integration of governance of the OMA, contract negotiations and agreement implementation, bilateral agreement committees, and legal services support.    In order to be successful, as the ideal candidate, you will have held executive leadership experience in highly complex and transformative environments. 

You are a polished, driven professional who inspires confidence with your teams and across the organization as a whole. You will contribute to the effective operations of the OMA, as part of a highly capable Executive Team, who are passionate about leading an organization that provides the highest level of service to Ontario’s Physicians and, therefore, the health of the people of Ontario. You will bring your 10 years of senior management experience, including five years as part of a senior executive team. In addition, you have a deep understanding of government, as well as a track record of achievement in highly regulated environments.   Above all, a desire to deliver the highest quality of member experience to Ontario’s doctors and to lead in an organization that has a huge opportunity to impact the health care system in Ontario.
