Job Summary

London Health Sciences Centre is now seeking a values-based, participatory, patient and family-centered healthcare leader as the Vice President (VP) Finance & Chief Financial Officer (CFO).  The position of VP Finance & CFO is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of all financial services, accounting, procurement, and financial planning.  The CFO will work in close collaboration with St. Joseph’s Health Care with the oversight of Health Care Materials Management Services an unincorporated joint venture of both organizations.

The VP Finance & CFO is accountable and shares responsibility with other LHSC executives to assure the provision of safe, quality and cost effective healthcare for our patients and community in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision and values.

The Ideal Candidate

The Ideal Candidate will have a proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively across the organization and maintain positive working relationships with the leadership of clinical, support services and medical programs.  They must also maintain positive working relationships with the Ministry of Health, South West LHIN, Infrastructure Ontario (IO), and other provincial organizations as required.

Will have a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in progressive senior leadership roles in related fields (finance and accounting), and complex operation environments with significant organizational change.  Experience in health care and/or public sector/not-for-profit is an asset.

The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA/CA) and will hold a Master’s Degree in business, accounting or a health leadership related degree. They will also be able to demonstrate their ability to fulfill the outlined responsibilities and accountabilities below.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

The VP Finance & CFO reports to the Chief Business Operations Officer (CBOO) and will be working closely with both the CEO and CBOO in the strategic oversight of LHSCs financial performance.  The VP Finance & CFO is accountable for the quality and overall development and coordination of the programs within his/her portfolio.  Safety (patient, worker & workplace) is a LHSC Corporate Priority. The successful applicant will demonstrate good stewardship in the identification, reporting and mitigation of unsafe acts or conditions.  In the role of VP Finance & CFO, the new incumbent will be responsible for the following:

Key Deliverables:

  • Provides strategic financial management and operational people-centered leadership to both an assigned portfolio and the organization as a whole;
  • Annual business planning and oversight of financial planning;
  • Develops standardized reporting model for financial and decision support information.
  • Maintenance of all capital budgets and planning;
  • Leads the implementation of case costing and operating room costing systems
  • Regular measures LHSC’s performance against peers
  • Development and use of expertise in Health System Funding Reform (HSFR) and Health Based Allocation Model (HBAM) forecasting, Bundled Payment and future funding models for Ontario Health Teams;
  • Meeting or exceeding LHSC, Ministry and LHIN accountability targets;
  • Creates organizational planning and reporting systems;
  • Provides staff support for the finance and audit of the Board and other relevant subcommittees.
  • Experience supporting and working with governance
  • Provides corporate performance reports for the Executive team, CEO and Board of Governors as requested.
