Job Description

The College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO) is the governing body established by the government of Ontario under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Act, 2006. Since first being proclaimed in April 2013 we have had six robust years of operations with membership growing to over 2,300.

As we continue to grow, we remain focused on our mandate of “regulating the profession in the public interest”, which is also a focal point of all discussions and decisions. As a College we work with our membership to encourage and support professional responsibility in the provision of safe, quality-focused and ethical care.

Define the Future

As the ideal candidate and our new Registrar and CEO, you are an influential leader who has exceptional abilities in Council and member relations, not to mention your operational savvy. Your leadership legacy includes a track record of building relationships with your Board, other stakeholders and government while advancing organizational interests. 

As our CEO you will provide visionary leadership and champion the mandate of our organization in your interactions with members, the public, government and stakeholders while advancing our profession.

You will report to and support the Council while ensuring excellent communication with all members, staff and providing oversight for CTCMPAO operations. Key accountabilities include daily operations of the College including management of all resources. Beyond the legislated role you will represent the College and our position to stakeholders. Additionally, you will act as a trusted advisor to our Council and provide leadership to staff related to Council directives, College operations and emerging issues in the practice and regulation of the profession provincially, nationally and internationally.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strategic Orientation: Able to analyze and plan strategically for the College in the areas of human and fiscal resource management, governance, stakeholder development and policy direction.
  • Operational Leadership: Experience in the development, implementation and/or facilitation of policies, procedures including business and strategic plans.
  • Management Acumen: Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and team-building skills including delegation and project management abilities.
  • Engagement: Able to work effectively with many organizations and individuals, fostering stakeholder relationships at the provincial, national and international levels.
  • Program Management: Able to set priorities and work to deadlines; ability to work well under pressure.
  • Advisory: Able to act as an advisor to Council and as a mentor to staff.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991, the regulatory process and the Ontario healthcare system.
  • TCM Knowledge: Knowledge of the principals and practice of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture an asset.
  • Communications: Able to prepare proposals and presentations for a variety of audiences; excellent written and verbal communications skills in English.
  • Personal Characteristics: Good listener, accessible, approachable, continuous learner, stability, diplomacy, discretions, tact, flexibility, integrity, and a sense of responsibility and professional ethics.
  • Other attributes: Appreciation for and an interest in working with diverse cultures and communities.
