This position is responsible for providing supervision of the processes required within People Services for the production of the bi-weekly payroll, related remittances, and associated reporting. The position is also responsible for the delivery of various payroll related reporting necessary for internal and external reporting.
The position is directly accountable to the Manager, Total Rewards and has indirect accountability to the Manager, Financial Reporting as it relates to the coordination of payroll data into the regular financial reporting cycles.
The Supervisor, Payroll will be supported by a Financial Analyst along with unionized staff including Junior Financial Analyst, and Clerks
Within this role the employee is accountable for contributing to the delivery of the Kingston Health Sciences Centre strategy. As an employee, one must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for actively promoting and supporting patient and family centered engagement and care in all we do.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES:
The Supervisor, Payroll provides daily direction, supervision and developmental support to the staff supporting the payroll and time evaluation processes to ensure the completion of data input elements, analysis and reporting. The Supervisor must also provide technical leadership and work collaboratively with peers in Financial Services and People Services to ensure contractual and regulatory obligations are met.
The position is responsible for ensuring workload prioritization, new policy and process development and implementation as well as making recommendations for improvements in alignment with the Hospital’s overall organizational strategy.
The position is accountable for ensuring adequate internal control systems to mitigate financial risks to the Hospital as applicable to the sub-systems under this area of leadership. This position must also ensure both collective agreement and legal obligations are met around payroll process and outcomes.

Professional Accounting Designation required
Minimum 3 to 5 years progressive managerial experience in accounting, payroll or equivalent, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment.
Demonstrated experience working in an integrated financial software application and environment.
Advanced computer software proficiency (word processing and spreadsheet).
Ability to supervise, delegate and motivate work teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Detail orientation, self-directed.
Satisfactory criminal record check required.
