Manager of Laboratory Services
Located in Barrie, Ontario, Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), is the largest regional health centre in the North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network (NSM LHIN). RVH serves residents across the fast-growing region of Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka, providing care through 422 physicians, 2,700 nursing, allied health professionals and support staff, as well as 850 volunteers. RVH has many surgical and medical sub-specialities, as well as adult medical/surgical intensive care and a separate cardiac intensive care unit, a robust women and children’s program, adult mental health and addictions program and comprehensive laboratory and imaging services. RVH offers an array of specialized regional services including the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Program, the Regional Child and Youth Mental Health Program, the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Heart Program and Regional Renal Hub Program, as well as being a designated Level 2 Vascular Centre. RVH has received Stroke Distinction from Accreditation Canada for both Acute and Rehabilitation stroke services. RVH introduced its MY CARE Strategic Plan in 2013, refreshed it in 2018 and continues to use the plan as a roadmap to guide actions that will enable RVH to deliver inspiring care that puts patients and their families first.

Reporting to the Operations Director of Medical Imaging and Laboratory Medicine, the Manager of Laboratory Services will play a key role in building and sustaining clinical excellence at RVH. Working in close collaboration with Program/Medical Leadership and other members of the RVH team, the successful candidate will provide exceptional leadership for a Laboratory Services Program that is committed to patient and family-centre care. The Manager will oversee a budget of approx. $13M and ensure an ongoing commitment to clinical excellence and quality of care, by actively promoting and continuing to advance best practices and high-quality services, both within and outside of the hospital. Working co-operatively with physicians, healthcare professionals, community partners and the surrounding region, the Manager will build on previous/current successes of the Program, developing the staff and clinical leaders and setting client-centric goals.

The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience, be a visionary and accomplished leader with a passion and track record for achieving sustainable results, embracing ambiguity and developing people in a similarly complex environment. With a track record for creating a quality and safety culture, as well as working with a diverse group of leaders and stakeholders, the new Manager will also bring a strong business acumen and a focus on achieving performance targets that focus on effectiveness and measurable outcomes. Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience in managing clinical laboratory services in an acute care hospital.
