Alberta Health Services (AHS) has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN) in a Benefit Eligible Casual Employee (BECE) position supporting Coronation, Consort, and Castor; located in the heart of east central Alberta. A BECE position is a hybrid that combines the flexibility of casual employment and the mutual commitment of a regular position with benefits. This position is located in a rural setting where the RN will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide family focused nursing care in blended home care, acute, and continuing care environments; this is suitable for candidates with a minimum of two years nursing experience. Relevant advanced certifications and professional development opportunities are available to successful candidates. To be successful, you will have good communication skills, strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently and to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. You have competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required, with demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining own continuing competence through professional development activities.
Coronation, Consort, Castor each have a similar population of around 1000 residents each and serve the surrounding counties. They are sports minded communities with active programs in hockey, baseball, softball, adult group fitness, swimming lessons and aquacises offered at the local recreational facilities. Other programs offered in the communities include music and cadets with schools that serve Kindergarten to Grade 12. These rural communities are quiet and affordable - great places to raise a family or to spend your retirement.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Strong computer skills. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
Minimum two (2) years’ experience. Certification in a relevant specialty area, charge nurse experience, past leadership training/experience are an asset.
