We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Operating Room department at University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) Reporting to the Manager, Perioperative Services, the staff nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care and nursing practice activities within the frame work of quality management and in accordance with the University Hospital of Northern BC mission statement. There are 7 training positions available for 2023/2024
Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, as required
Learners should expect to make a 6 – 12 month commitment for this education, which includes online and in-person learning
Additional study time, outside of schedule hours, may be required to successfully complete the program • Flexibility for practicums is necessary
Applicants must successfully complete the education program prior to working in the department
Upon successful completion of the education program, Northern Health requires an eighteen (18) month return of service in a regular position in the area of nursing applicable to the education program. • Qualified applicants will be considered first for specialty positions. If there are no qualified applicants, training lines will be awarded to unqualified applicants and training will be provided
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days - 08:00 to 16:00 University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) is the largest acute care facility (268 beds) in Northern Health and is the hub for specialized health services. It is a full service hospital and home to a new cancer centre for Northern BC, including a wide range of cancer treatments. Provides undergraduate physician training through the Northern Medical Program, run by the University of British Columbia and University of Northern British Columbia. UHNBC is also a key clinical education site for nursing and many health sciences students at UNBC, the College of New Caledonia, BCIT and other institutions. Prince George has a population of 89,490 (2021) local residents and is a service centre for approximately 320,000. Qualifications
Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
Post graduate courses (within last five years) appropriate to service assignment or equivalent combination of training and experience.
