Position Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Services and CFO, the Director of Corporate Infrastructure is responsible for ensuring a safe and efficient operation of the multi-site physical plant, and its utilities in support of clinical programs. The Director plans, organizes and evaluates all activities within the portfolio to ensure that BCHS is compliant with all applicable government regulations. The Director oversees the environmental services, maintenance and parking and security team. In collaboration with the Manager of Planning, Redevelopment and Facilities, this position will also assist in the planning, design, redevelopment and construction process for large building redevelopment projects, ensuring the integration of engineering and maintenance in the process. The Director will ensure the infrastructure, facilities and grounds are maintained and operated using digital drawings and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) software. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with the BCHS energy efficiency project’s contractual obligations.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ managerial level experience in a unionized maintenance or physical plant environment (preferably a healthcare environment)
  • Professional Engineer with a combination of work experience and equivalent credentials is preferred
  • Ability to read technical drawings with working knowledge of technical trades and facilities infrastructure systems
  • Familiarity with applicable mandatory building and safety codes
  • Experience with digital facility management systems
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems software.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Directs programs involving maintenance of buildings and grounds equipment, distribution lines for steam, hot water, air handling, plumbing, electricity, refrigeration and sanitation
  • With assistance from finance team, responsible for timely submission of all Ministry of Health and Long Term Care funded Health Infrastructure Renewal Funding (HIRF) and Exceptional Circumstance Project (ECP) funding applications and related risk assessments to maximize MoHLTC funding for our facility repairs.
  • Ensures Hospital Accreditation standards related to Infrastructure are being met.
  • Ensures Hospital’s strategic goals are maintained when prioritizing the activities and projects within the portfolio.
  • Establishes and ensure implementation of appropriate safety programs, policies and processes
  • Contract, construction and project management, including oversight of parking and security contracted services
  • Ensures that all operating budgets within the portfolio are prepared reflecting actual usage of resources and that the hospital building capital budget is prepared on a timely basis.
