We are currently seeking—A Full-Time Sr. Communications and Public Relations (PR) Manager

VHA is looking for an experienced communications dynamo who thrives on wearing many hats to motivate our staff and raise our public profile as a home care trailblazer.

Reporting to the CEO and President, the Sr. Communications and PR Manager is responsible for overseeing, developing and delivering high-quality strategic marketing and communication materials. Together with a talented team, the incumbent will create compelling proposals, scripts, media releases, reports and presentations to support departments and maintain a positive public profile for VHA. This includes fostering relationships with the media, sponsors and other like-minded organizations. The Sr. Communications and PR Manager works with a team of communications specialists ensuring messages are clear, consistent, effectively delivered and strategically aligned. 

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A university degree and/or post-graduate certificate in communications/public relations or journalism
  • Seven to 10 years of progressive, relevant experience including at least three years supervisory experience
  • Leadership skills and is able to direct, inspire and mentor junior communications staff
  • Experience overseeing communications projects/operations—e.g., corporate intranet, web, social media, design, branding, strategic planning support, etc.
  • Expert strategic communications planning and analytic skills
  • Experience in crisis communications planning and delivery
  • A proven track record of successful profile-building and is a strategic thinker
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Exceptional multi-tasking skills and who is highly detail-oriented
  • An ability to develop and write for a variety of formats (print, online, speeches, presentations) and audiences
  • Well-honed project management skills and event planning experience
  • Experience negotiating supplier relationships and delivering projects on time and on budget
  • A demonstrated interest in professional self-development and maintenance of membership in appropriate professional associations (e.g., CPRS and/or IABC)
  • A commitment to client and family-centered care
  • Health care or not-for-profit experience (preferred)
