Job Description

Director, Clinical Leadership and Excellence

Peel Children’s Centre (PCC) and Nexus Youth Services (NYS) are fully accredited, community-based child and youth mental health agencies serving children, youth and their families within the Region of Peel in Ontario, Canada. As Lead Agency for the Peel service area, PCC assumes responsibility for the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s child and youth mental health service system within the region. Established in 1984, PCC and NYS provide high quality, innovative services that are confidential, voluntary and free-of-charge to children and youth, from birth to age 24. Since 1998, the two organizations have operated within a strategic alliance that enables them to provide a continuum of services, as well as shared Board governance, infrastructure, clinical supports and administrative services along with their common vision of “a caring community working together for children and youth”.

The organization seeks an outstanding leader for the role of Director, Clinical Leadership and Excellence. As a fully integrated member of the Senior Management Team and reporting directly to the CEO, the Director, Clinical Leadership and Excellence is accountable for all clinical operations at PCC/NYS within the broader context of “Moving On Mental Health” system transformation within Peel Region. The Director is responsible for clinical strategic planning and goal attainment, as well as the decision-making and policy development functions that support PCC/NYS’s important work. Core functions of the role include providing leadership, clinical strategic direction and operational guidance to a team of dedicated multi-skilled clinical managers who work proactively and positively across organizational systems and sectors to optimize the Ministry’s service delivery system within the Peel community.

For this critical role, the CEO and Senior Management Team wish to recruit an innovative, collaborative and strategic leader with a track record of success in advancing, leading and transforming clinical services. The ideal candidate is an action-oriented leader and strong communicator who takes a data-informed approach to innovation and keeps the well-being of clients and their families at the centre of decision making. Possessing exemplary systems thinking and planning skills and a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement, the Director will be inspired by PCC/NYS’s important work within the child and youth mental health space. With 10+ years of wide-ranging clinical experience and several years’ management experience, the preferred candidate will hold a Masters degree, at minimum, in a related field and will bring in-depth knowledge of client-focused programs and services. Experience in or familiarity with children’s mental health programs would be a strong asset. In this exciting and challenging role, the Director will work closely with the CEO and Senior Management Team to best enable PCC/NYS to provide high quality mental health services to meet the needs of the children, youth and families they serve.
