Vice President, Information Management and Chief Financial Officer

North York General Hospital (NYGH) is a fully-accredited community academic hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto. The Position

The Vice President, Information Management and Chief Financial Officer (VP, IM & CFO) offers senior level strategic direction and oversight at North York General Hospital (NYGH).  As the health care system evolves, this leader will create and implement innovative approaches to applying funding and technology practices, as it relates to current and future models of care. The role includes but is not limited to, the leadership and management of a range of finance and technology services within the portfolio, including Financial Services, Health Information Management, Business Intelligence, Patient Flow, Information Technology Services and Privacy.

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the VP, IM & CFO works collaboratively across the organization and with external partners to create strategic and operational plans that supports NYGH’s ambitious goals for patients, education and research. The VP, IM & CFO ensures that he/she and his/her respective teams provide a highly customer-oriented approach to all key NYGH stakeholders. The individual contributes to overall health system transformation through influence within the broader health care sector, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, TAHSN, CAHO and other partners. 

Key leadership priorities for the new VP, IM & CFO will be to:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to creating and implementing integrated models of care.
  • Guide the financial aspects of facilities redevelopment, including negotiation of government funding and development accountability agreements, securing appropriate project financing, long term cash flow planning and management.
  • Build and leverage NYGH’s reputation as a national health system leader in clinical informatics to support integration, innovation and better quality care.
  • Together with the CIO, oversee the evolution of NYGH’s e-Health Strategy as a critical enabler of the Hospital’s strategic plan. 
  • Appropriately seek out opportunities for revenue generation.
  • Provide insight and guidance for innovative models of care and their related funding and financial implications.
  • Evolve the calibre and level of expertise in information management and technology to advance NYGH’s academic mandate.


NYGH requires an accomplished senior-level executive, capable of excelling in a complex multi-stakeholder environment, with proven experience in leveraging financial constructs and technology to foster integration and systems thinking. The incumbent must be an outstanding communicator and possess deep knowledge of integrated funding models that span hospital, home care and primary care. The successful candidate will have at least 7-10 years of progressive senior leadership experience, ideally in health care and/or a similarly complex public sector environment. In addition, the candidate will be a change agent, inspiring leader and engaged team player with experience working across a diverse/complex business environment, with a track record of exemplary business acumen, ethical leadership, business integrity and financial innovation.
