Job Description

The Manager of Emergency is responsible for the functioning of day to day operations in the Emergency Department and for the effective coordination of patient care. The Manager takes a lead role in the development of the patient care teams, and serves as a link between the Emergency Department and other clinical service areas in the hospital. The Manager participates in Emergency Services visioning, planning, evaluation, budget development, resource allocation, utilization management, risk management, and the promotion of service excellence and quality improvement. The Manager works on various projects with others internally and externally to RVH including accountability and reporting of P4R metrics to the Operations Director. Promotes the growth and development of their respective patient care areas, ensuring excellence in patient care, which contributes to the achievement of the hospital’s mission. A highly motivated individual, you demonstrate effective leadership, planning and project management skills combined with exceptional problem solving and change management abilities. 

Education/Experience:

  • Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
  • Master's degree completed or evidence of commencement preferred
  • ENC(c.) or Emergency Certification preferred
  • PALS Certification preferred
  • Involvement in related professional organizations
  • Minimum five years progressive leadership experience
  • Previous management experience, preferably in Emergency or Critical Care Area
  • Computer skills should include competency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Meditech
  • Recognized leadership/management certification preferred
  • Experience with managing departmental and/or program budgets
