The Organization

Carefor Health & Community Services is a not-for-profit registered charity that provides a variety of home health care and community support services to clients and caregivers across the Champlain region.

Carefor’s core programs and services in the Eastern Counties include community support services, respite programs, palliative care, and end of life care. We also provide befriending programs, caregiver support, Diners' Clubs, elder abuse prevention programs, in-home exercise programs, and transportation programs.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Director of Operations to lead our Eastern Counties division, located in Cornwall with satellite offices in Hawkesbury, Alexandria, Lancaster, Winchester, Finch and Ingleside.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for the overall operation of Carefor’s Eastern Counties Division, overseeing the planning, direction, implementation, and delivery of all Carefor programs and services in the Eastern Counties.

In collaboration with the Board and Senior Management Team, you will be a key participant in the development of strategic plans and will work with the other members of the Senior Management Team to advance Carefor’s strategic directions and initiatives.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Developing of operating, capital and fundraising budgets for Eastern Counties operations
  • Providing operational oversight of a ten bed palliative Hospice
  • Identifying and implementing quality management initiatives that foster continuous improvement and cost effectiveness
  • Exploring new business and program development opportunities within the community health and support services sector
  • Providing direct supervision and guidance to program managers, supervisors, and team leaders
  • Supporting the Eastern Counties Program Board and associated committees as a key informant representing the Senior Management Team
  • Supporting and guiding local fundraising efforts, and representing Carefor to the local community.

The Ideal Candidate

As an ideal candidate, you hold a Baccalaureate or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or a related Field and have a minimum of 5 years of senior management experience.

You have strong leadership and interpersonal skills and an ability to manage external relationships including contract management, negotiations, financial management, conflict resolution, and general stakeholder/external relations.

You have demonstrated an ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and partner agencies to advance organizational priorities.

You have a strong knowledge of community health care policies, standards, contracts, and partnerships and have experience working with stakeholders in the delivery of community health care and support services.

You are comfortable with financial management and control, with experience creating and managing budgets.
