Job Description


The Health Service Administrator (HSA) provides leadership in the planning, integration, delivery and evaluation of programs and services for Hazelton. The HSA ensures that quality care is provided to both local and regional populations served and that the strategic goals and objectives of Northern Health and Operational Plans are achieved. The HSA supports and collaborates with the Senior Management Team of the Health Service Delivery Area (HSDA) to build and implement strategic priorities.


  • A Masters’ Degree in a Health Administration or a related discipline;
  • Ten (7) to fifteen (10) years of experience in progressively senior health care administration roles, preferably in a regional tertiary services setting.
  • Experience working and collaborating with Indigenous groups an asset.


  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to deal with all levels in the organization as well as various external groups.
  • Leadership, planning and problem solving skills.
  • Facilitation, negotiation and mediation skills.

  • Ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Ability to create and support innovation and manage and implement change.
  • Good budget and finance skills
  • Understanding of the application of continuous quality improvement principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of current health care issues and trends.

This position is a relief, ending date approximately January, 2020.
