Guelph General Hospital is a dynamic, high performing, comprehensive acute care hospital providing a full range of services to the 180,000 residents of Guelph and Wellington County. Services include 24-hour emergency coverage, advanced technology and diagnostic support, and specialty programs such as being the Regional provider for general vascular surgery and a designated Provincial Centre of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery. The Position:

The Vice President of Patient Services and Chief Nursing Executive (VP/CNE) joins our team at an exciting time of change and innovation implementing our Strategic Plan, Better Together: 2016-2020. Focused on four key strategic directions: Provide the Safest and Highest Quality Care, Support our Exceptional Team; With our Partners, Create a Coordinated, High Quality System of Care; and Sustain our Financial Health. With our leadership team, you will have the opportunity to exercise your innovative talents utilizing Lean to lead the achievement of our plan.


Reporting to the President and CEO, through your inspired leadership, you will contribute to the overall strategic direction and operational oversight of nursing and clinical best practice for the delivery of exceptional patient and family centred care and experience.


Key leadership initiatives for this position will be to:

  • Successfully support the organization in its achievements of our Strategic Plan through Lean;
  • Lead and support initiatives that result in positive patient and family experiences and coordinated systems of care;
  • Advance best practices and collaborative practice;
  • Foster and maintain current positive relationships and form new innovative partnerships to advance the creation of a high quality system of care;
  • Provide leadership for Regional and Waterloo Wellington Clinical Initiatives such as Emergency Services Council.
