Founded in 1977 as an association of accredited retirement homes, ORCA is the voice of Ontario’s regulated retirement home operators. Today, ORCA represents more than 92 percent of the province’s retirement home suites. ORCA is the only association with the expertise and experience to effectively represent its members and promote sector success.

Reporting to the President of the Ontario Retirement Communities Association Board of Directors, the CEO serves as the Chief Staff Officer under the direction of the President and the Board of Directors. The CEO has the full authority and responsibility for managing the Association, its headquarters, and all programs within the established guidelines. The CEO is responsible for ensuring that all Association activities and undertakings support the four pillars of the Strategic Plan. 

With an affinity for the potential of the retirement communities sector, either gained through in-sector senior level working experience or arising from an abiding professional or personal interest, the preferred candidate will uphold a relentless focus on the core mission of ORCA – to support our members and partners while enhancing public confidence in a dynamic retirement communities sector through innovation and research, advocacy and policy development, education and resources. The new CEO will possess proven operational and financial expertise that ensures the ORCA’s resources are aligned with that mission.

The successful candidate will have a progressive track record in senior leadership, ideally acquired in the retirement living sector, in the broader healthcare field or related fields, with a dossier of demonstrated achievements, accompanied by an impeccable reputation. The new CEO will recognize and appreciate the innate talent embedded in the organization, and commit to leverage that talent to its full potential in support of the organization’s aspirations. Academic credentials will be consistent with industry practice at the CEO level in the association sector, ideally prepared at the Masters level, or the equivalent.
