Job Description

Chief Executive Officer

There’s no shortage of bright, motivated professionals in Ontario’s healthcare system. To inspire them and move the system ahead, what they really need are active leaders who have the clarity of vision and tenacity to break through the status quo.

Guiding the next generation OMA will take more than sound organizational stewardship. It will also take a high profile commitment to transformation and reinvention. An important part of the OMA’s new mission is changing minds. With your staff by your side, you will take on the task of sending clear messages to the membership and healthcare system that the OMA is going to elevate the profession by supporting physicians in their work, brand and system leadership work.  As Chief Executive Officer of the OMA, you will work with an involved and agile Board and a modernized strategic plan to re-engage members and help physicians realize their full professional potential. You will transform the OMA, into a fast-paced, nimble, member-centric organization.

The Ontario Medical Association represents the political, clinical and economic interests of more than 41,000 Ontario physicians, residents and medical students. Supported by research and analytics, it negotiates the Provincial Physician Service Agreement while providing members with an array of products and services that support the profession.  As a part of its expanding mandate to advocate for the well-being of its members and the health of Ontarians, the OMA provides leadership for an accessible, sustainable and high quality health-care system. Its services to members include practice management & education, physician health services, insurance services and a member affinity program. You and your team will add value and thought leadership to members by representing the importance of physicians to the public and government.

You have built credentials as a transformer/disruptor, a consensus leader and an influencer. Whether you’re a senior healthcare executive, physician leader, a corporate leader in the private sector or the CEO of a not-for-profit organization, you have honed your relationship-building skills by working with multiple stakeholders. The most important qualification you bring to this pivotal role is your energy and excitement at the challenge inherent in changing an established organizational culture.
