Situated in the heart of Duncan, Cowichan District Hospital has 134 funded beds and helped more than 33,479 patients who visited our Emergency Room last year. Work in a diverse multi-generational team and serve a diverse culture of patients, from toddlers to seniors.    

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency department, you will provide direct nursing care to patients in the hospital and fulfil the responsibilities of an individual practitioner, as well as maintain nursing records for patients. You will assist with higher level of care transfers to Nanaimo and Victoria hospitals. This is a great opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, working with a team and independently, while making critical decisions to improve patient care.  


You are a graduate of a recognized school of nursing, with clinical courses related to the clinical specialty. You have at least one year of related experience in the ER, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) and completion of the BCIT Emergency Specialty certification (or equivalent) are required. 

Knowledge of the skills, policies and procedures required in the hospital and in a clinical specialty (PAR, Maternity, Paediatrics, Oncology, OR, Psychiatry) are required.
