Yukon Hospital Corporation (YHC) operates three acute care hospitals in the scenic Yukon Territory, Canada’s North. Dawson City Community Hospital is a modern facility that opened in 2013 with state-of-the-art equipment. About the Opportunity

Yukon Hospital Corporation is currently seeking a Director, Patience Care and Experience based in Whitehorse. This is a pivotal leadership role which combines both administrative skills with nursing knowledge. 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Working to ensure culturally sensitive, safe, high quality, patient, and family-centered care is provided
  • Developing and implementing operational plans for the clinical areas of Whitehorse General Hospital including in-patient units, peri-operative services, Emergency Department, and Intensive Care Unit, ensuring alignment with YHC’s strategic plan, and involving internal and external stakeholders
  • Working closely with colleagues on the Management and Executive Teams to ensure seamless day to day operations
  • Supporting and managing the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs which facilitate the professional development and continuous learning of all team members.

Above all, you will display passion and optimism, inspire respect and trust, and provide vision and inspiration to peers and direct reports. While the main objectives of this position are clinically focused, you understand that patient experience is all encompassing. As such, you may be required to take on a variety of tasks or projects to ensure patients and families have an optimal experience. 

In order to qualify for this role, you will have a Master’s degree in Nursing, or recognized equivalent plus a minimum of 5 years of management experience (preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting). Previous experience in quality, safety and/or risk management is also required.

The following are considered assets:

  • A certificate in hospital or health care services administration and/or management, nursing administration or human resource management (strongly preferred)
  • Workplace violence prevention training/certification
  • Current registration with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association, or recognized equivalent organization 

You will be a good fit for this role if you are a flexible, people-focused leader who can work collaboratively. Comfortable with change management, you can easily identify opportunities for growth.
