Reimagining child welfare and seeking transformative systemic change, the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies (OACAS) is a collective of child welfare agencies that provides sectoral leadership with a vision of an effective children’s services system that supports all children, youth, families, and communities to thrive. OACAS leads bravely, advocates boldly and delivers effectively on behalf of the more than 19,000 children and families served by Ontario’s 48 Children’s Aid Societies and Indigenous child well-being societies. OACAS engages with government, child welfare leaders, diverse community groups and the Ontario public to promote the welfare of children, youth and families through leadership, advocacy, and service excellence. Since 1920, OACAS has acted on behalf of its membership and continues to evolve in its role, providing provincial leadership, advocacy, government relations, public education, training, information resources, supportive tools, and shared services.

With the upcoming retirement of OACAS’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Association seeks an outstanding new leader to take the organization to its next level of achievement in supporting and improving Ontario’s child welfare system to respond to the needs of Ontario’s diverse families and children. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for providing courageous and strategic system leadership and successfully guiding the organization through its new strategic plan on a journey that enables its membership to have a common purpose in serving the interests of children, youth, and families.

For the position of CEO, the Board wishes to recruit a bold and innovative systems leader with a track record of success in fostering collaboration and building consensus among diverse stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a visionary who brings substantial, demonstrated experience in change management, systems improvement, government relations, addressing and advancing issues of diversity, equity and inclusion, as well as leading system change for improved outcomes for Indigenous communities, families, children, and youth. Inspired by and attuned to the priorities and values of OACAS, the CEO sought possesses exemplary communication and interpersonal skills, along with strong emotional intelligence and business acumen. Drawing on their substantive experience in child welfare or the public sector, the preferred candidate will ensure and accelerate OACAS’s ability to deliver on its mission and to work collaboratively with its membership to advance and promote the well-being of children, youth, and families in Ontario.
