Executive Vice President Academic & Chief Medical Executive
The Executive Vice President Academic & Chief Medical Executive (EVP Academic/CME) is a key senior leadership position at HHS, helping deliver organizational transformation and achieve the hospital’s vision of best care for all. Reporting to the President & CEO, the EVP Academic & CME is accountable for operational medical leadership, academic relations, quality & performance, inter-professional practice, and the research enterprise at HHS.
The EVP Academic/CME strives to continuously strengthen the quality of care provided at HHS, advance the academic and research missions of the hospital, and elevate the organization’s contributions to health system planning and performance in Ontario. To succeed at these endeavors, the EVP Academic/CME must maintain a strong, collaborative working relationship with senior leaders of the Ontario Ministry of Health & Long Term Care, the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Local Health Integrated Network (HNHB LHIN), the McMaster University Faculty of Health Sciences, Mohawk College, as well as HHS’ hospital and community partners, peer organizations and sector associations.
A respected clinician and medical leader, the EVP Academic/CME will have a demonstrated history of personal integrity and collaboration, working to foster a culture of quality patient care and safety. The successful candidate will be a front-runner in the fields of innovation and health care transformation with a track record of accomplishment in pursuit of operational excellence and value-oriented hospital performance. The successful candidate will also be experienced in the field of research and research administration.
The successful candidate will be licensed, or eligible for licensure, with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and ideally will possess a Master’s degree in business or a health-related discipline. The preferred candidate will have a minimum of ten years leadership experience in a comparable role, acquired in an academic health sciences organization or regional health authority, or within an organization of similar scope and complexity.
