Job Description

The Director of Finance & Information Management is responsible for ensuring all aspects of the financial operation of the facility are dealt with in a concise and comprehensive manner while at the same time conforming to the standards and ethics of the accounting profession as well as those standards administered by the Ministry of Health. The Director of Finance & Information Management is also responsible for the oversight of information gathering and analytical activities to provide administrative and clinical decision- makers, government and statutory reporting authorities with accurate, timely and complete reporting. This includes responsibility for the Health Records and Scheduling/Registration of patient activity across the hospital. The Director of Finance & Information Management is a champion of data quality. 

Qualifications 

Education: 

  • Recognized and current accounting designation required (CPA (CA, CMA or CGA) 
  • Graduate of a recognized accounting program i.e. CGA, CMA. CA, etc. and/or the demonstration of competency through experience required. 

Experience: 

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in the finance department in a hospital setting, with demonstrated management potential, or five (5) years financial management experience in another industry is required. 
  • Experience working with Hospital Data sets including SRI, HAPs, HSAA, CAPS, MSAA, HIT, Audited Financial Statements, Consolidated Reporting, Quarterly MIS Trial Balance submission, NACRS, Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), NRS, CCRS, OMHRS,WTIS, etc. 
  • Experience with the automation of financial process is an asset

  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications especially those related to financial programs

  • Demonstrated excellent written oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate, coach, mentor and lead direct reports. 
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently prioritize and multitask. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices, software programs, infrastructure as related to finance.
