A permanent, full-time opportunity on our long-term care leadership team in Hamilton, ON.

Reporting to the General Manager, Healthy and Safe Communities, you will fulfill the duties of the Administrator of Macassa Lodge as well as assume the overall management, administration, direction and coordination of both Long-Term Care facilities under the City of Hamilton’s jurisdiction – Macassa and Wentworth. Along with providing strategic leadership to a multi-functional workforce engaged in the delivery of services for seniors, you will be expected to recommend broad policies and long-range strategies in the delivery of services to meet mandated goals and objectives. As Senior Administrator, you also participate in emergency preparedness planning, development and training, and respond to all municipal emergencies, as requested.

Your qualifications as Senior Administrator – Lodges include:

  • Proven knowledge of management principles, practices and theories in the delivery of long-term care home, or a health or service sector normally acquired by obtaining a degree in a health or social services field from an accredited university.
  • Completion of a master’s degree, an asset.
  • Completion of a certificate course in Long-Term Care Senior Management that meets the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) requirement for Administrator preparation and qualification.
  • Progressive senior management experience in a management capacity, preferably in an LTC home or a health or service sector.
  • Demonstrable understanding of, and commitment to, a resident-centred philosophy and ability to provide visionary and long-term strategic planning.
  • Sound knowledge of all legislation and regulations that govern the LTC home such as the Long-Term Care Homes Act (2007) and including Ministry of Labour, Health and Safety, and Human Rights legislation.
  • Demonstrated competency to manage a large multi-disciplinary, unionized staff utilizing proactive management skills.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and mentoring abilities, innovation and creativity, and skill in team development and results achievement by creating a positive, cooperative work environment
  • Demonstrated financial management skills in developing, implementing and monitoring operating and capital budgets.
  • Highly developed analytical and business planning skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write clear, concise reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to deal with residents and their families, staff, the general public, government departments, all levels of management and elected officials.

This permanent, full-time position offers a salary range of $145,494.44 to $174,612.62 per annum.
