Educating nurses for over 55 years, Memorial University ’s Faculty of Nursing has grown a reputation for excellence in Newfoundland and Labrador, across the country and internationally. The Faculty of Nursing at Memorial University has grown to over 500 students enrolled across a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, along with more than 50 faculty and 30 staff. We have one of the largest critical care services in the province caring for critically ill populations short of solid organ transplantation. The Trauma Program has an annual budget of over $50M, this includes operational oversight for 5 critical care units and 2 inpatient units.
Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Chief Nursing and Health Professions Executive, the successful candidate must have extensive experience in strategic and operational planning; performance and quality management. Ideally, the candidate should have developed these skills in the context of a large academic health sciences centre. A critical success factor is the ability to build strong teams and be a strategic and operational partner to the Program Chief.
This role works in collaboration with respective Medical Directors, Senior Leadership, Directors, Managers, interprofessional teams, patients and their families. The role responsibilities include clinical and financial administration, program planning, and providing representation at regional and provincial fora relevant to Program activity. The Operations Director will have over 10 direct reports, including several Patient Care Managers, Advanced Practice Nurses, Clinical Educators and a Nurse Practitioner.

Work in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team in a shared-care model of practice providing cross coverage.

Support best practice in seniors’ care and other health care providers where appropriate.
Consult on patient/client care, providing advice, expertise, and consultation services.
Qualifications:
Currently registered with the CNO as a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class.
Currently have RNAO or NPAO membership with LAP or equivalent.
Additional post graduate education or certification in Mental Health and Addictions services / management related areas is a strong asset.
Minimum Three (3) years of relevant clinical experience, including experience working with clients with complex mental health illnesses.
Experience working with persons with Dementia or cognitive impairment.
Successfully completed a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Program in Ontario or equivalent and hold a master’s degree in nursing with a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Program (family all ages).
Your clinical focus will be with chronic disease management, geriatric nursing care, mental health, and addictions services where there is an emphasis on collaborative practice within an inter-professional milieu.
Use of proper body mechanics and successful completion of the Physical Readiness Test to ensure safe work practices are followed, including mobility, transfers, bending, lifting, push and pulling.

Qualifications:

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
One year recent related clinical experience in a relevant clinical area working with complex clients/patients with chronic health conditions and/or functional mobility issues including recent experience in care and transition planning, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Valid BC Driver’s License required as local area travel may require the use of a vehicle or other accepted mode of transportation.

Registered Practical Nurse (x4) Surgical Suite and Outpatient Clinic/Procedure Rooms Surgical Program Regular Part Time Days - 8 Hour Shifts (Subject to Change) Lakeridge Health Jerry Coughlan Health & Wellness Centr Salary: $34.070 - $35.970 per hour CUPE 2300002714 - 2300002717 ABOUT THE JERRY COUGLAN HEALTH & WELLNESS CENTRE: The Jerry Coughlan Health & Wellness Centre (JCHWC), Lakeridge Health's new state-of-the-art Surgical Centre and health-care facility is taking shape! As of July 2023, the exterior is now complete, and construction is focused on the interior spaces. This includes installing the fire protection systems, assembling internal partitions throughout the space, sourcing surgical equipment, and work on the mechanical, electrical, and medical gas systems. Upon completion, the Surgical Centre will provide a wide range of day surgeries, including endoscopy, orthopaedics, and gynaecological procedures. With more than 9,000 surgical cases projected to be completed annually at the JCHWC, Lakeridge Health's hospital operating rooms will have increased capacity for more complex procedures. This modern multi-storey building is located at 2580 Brock Road on a 2.3-acre property that is owned by Lakeridge Health. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To use nursing process in providing patient care. To participate as a member of the Health Care Team and the Nursing Team. As an individual practitioner, to maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current practice. To maintain nursing records. To perform as a member of the surgical team, including perioperative role and in all services. To perform other related duties as assigned within the RPN scope of practice. QUALIFICATIONS: * Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college; * Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing); * Successful completion of the Operating Room course from an approved program; * Minimum of two years experience within the perioperative scrub role within a variety of operating room services required; * Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CNO; * Current B.C.L.S. Heart and Stroke Foundation Standards; * Proven to have good technical operating room skills that adhere to AORN/ORNAC standards of practice for a scrub nurse role; * Proven organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving and teaching skills; * Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete assignments adhering to the Operating Room standards of practice for an RPN in a scrub nurse role; * Proven ability to lead peers and educate peers in perioperative nursing skills; * Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills; * Proven ability to perform appropriately in emergency situations; * Ability to lift, turn, transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids; * Must be able to meet the expected flexibility in scheduling in an Operating Room setting and have the ability to work in order to meet patient care needs in the Operating Room setting; * Evidence of continuing education related to the position; *Must have satisfactory performance record; *Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy; *Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area; and; *Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard; CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.
