The Position

The Director, Master Plan PMO (“Director”) will be instrumental in supporting the planning, design , coordination and implementation of a major, multi-year renewal and replacement of THP infrastructure across two sites (“Master Plan”).  This role will report to the VP, Capital Planning & Redevelopment and will facilitate the integration of various project plans within the Master Plan, aligning them with THP’s strategic plan, overall corporate priorities and other work taking place across THP.  Through this role, standardized approaches to project scheduling, resourcing, risk management will be developed and implemented.  These will be used to support overall project governance, which the Director will support by facilitating regular reporting and analysis required for decision-making and oversight.  Finally, the Director will oversee the processes of ongoing engagement, communication and change management to advance project work in alignment with established methodologies and approaches used at THP.

Key Accountabilities Include:

  • Support the development and implementation of an integrated plan for various components of the Master Plan at all phases of the project. Within this accountability, ensure the strategic alignment of the Master Plan to integrate the work of master planning with other key organizational transformation initiatives and strategic goals including the implementation of a common health information (HIS) system, and ongoing clinical service planning.
  • Establish and facilitate consistent and effective project management across all parts of the Master Plan, including project reporting, change and risk management.
  • Work closely with other Master Plan Directors to ensure efficient project management principles and practices are in place to manage a highly demanding project, on time and within
  • Work closely with other Master Plan team leads (directors and managers) and subject matter experts to coordinate and advance a complex corporate planning initiative, from design through to execution and
  • Collaborate with a range of stakeholders, within and beyond THP, ensuring effective health system engagement and the development and sustainability of key


The successful candidate will have at least 8-10 years of progressive experience in health care and/or a similarly complex sector/industry. This is a newly created role that requires someone that has a demonstrated track record in successful design and implementation of large-scale strategic and integrated planning and major project initiatives (preferably in health care), senior-level leadership and project governance, organizational change management, team building and coordinated execution. Further, the Director will embody excellence in customer service, commitment to high quality communications and be highly effective at stakeholder engagement. 


  • Master’s degree preferred (e.g. Health Administration, Leadership, Quality, Clinical)
  • Excellent change management and transformational leadership skills, with strong ability to coach and mentor team members through change
  • Demonstrated success with leading, managing, integrating projects processes and best practices with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines 
  • The ideal candidate would understand the business of healthcare, have a minimum of five years of leadership experience in project planning and implementation
  • The ideal candidate would possess experience with capital planning processes and/or clinical operations. Although experience in capital planning or a clinical background is not required, experience working in both areas is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate must have prior working experience developing and implementing project plans, support tools and processes
  • The ideal candidate must be an enthusiastic and creative leader with the ability to inspire and motivate people, and have a proven ability to develop and foster strong stakeholder relationships
  • The ideal candidate must be successful in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment and be results-oriented
