Job Description

Ross Memorial Hospital (RMH) is an active, acute-care community hospital located in the heart of the City of Kawartha Lakes. Among our acute and continuing care services, our team cares for 45,000 patients per year in the 24/7/365 emergency department, provides orthopedics and ophthalmology, operates a dialysis unit, and is renowned for its mental health programs and restorative seniors care. RMH is currently seeking a Part Time Registered Nurse in our Emergency Department.

RMH is a medium sized hospital that provides 24 hour care to approximately 44,000 Emergency Room patients per year. Reporting to the Manager, Emergency Department, the RN is part of a multidisciplinary team and is responsible for providing care to critical and non-critical patients.  The Emergency department embraces the Hospital’s vision by providing staff with an excellent, supportive, team environment where the clinical team can practice Exceptional Care – Together.

Hours of Work

Must be available to work 8 and 12 hour shifts including every other weekend, days and nights. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA Collective Agreement.

Rates of Pay

  • $32.21 to $45.31 per hour

Essential Qualifications

  • Current Certificate of Registration (College of Nurses)
  • Current BCLS and ACLS certification, on hire
  • Current I.V. certification
  • Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale Education
  • Coronary Care course or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years recent Emergency Room experience
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and co-operatively with all levels of staff, patients and the public
  • Demonstrated problem solving, communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • TNCC and PALS certification
  • Health teaching skills that demonstrates a broad knowledge of Adult and Paediatric Emergency Care
  • BScN preferred
