Labrador-Grenfell Regional Health Authority is one of four health authorities in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador and is responsible for the delivery of a wide range of health services to a population of just under 37,000 in the Northern Newfoundland and Labrador region. The Authority has an annual operating budget of over $185 million and currently employs approximately 1,500 staff. The region is served by three hospitals, three community health centres, fourteen community clinics and two long term care facilities. The corporate headquarters are in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

As a key member of the executive team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice-President will have primary responsibility for the Financial and Corporate Services of the Health Authority, including but not limited to: Financial Services, Infrastructure Support and Capital Projects, Environmental, Food, Regional Transportation, Security Services, Foundation Chapters, and Corporate Accommodations. The incumbent will provide leadership to the organization in meeting its strategic goals and objectives through values, financial stewardship, accountability and informed decision making. 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a university degree in Finance, Commerce or Business Administration supplemented by a current Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation;
  • Must have an established record in a senior management role, preferably in the health care sector;
  • Experience working with Boards of Directors and knowledge of Governance requirements;
  • Able to provide leadership to a wide variety of services/departments within the organization, which currently includes finance, infrastructure support and capital projects, material management, food services and environmental services; 
  • Experience in providing leadership to significant capital projects would be an asset;
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills; 
  • Possess sound technical, leadership and management skills.

Duties and Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

  • Provide support and advice on a wide variety of financial issues to the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, the Senior Executive Team and Regional Directors;
  • Oversees financial and compliance functions, such as financial reporting and accounting;
  • Manages the budget process and collaborates with delivery functions to ensure that the Health Authority's funding is spent effectively and efficiently across the organization;
  • Contribute to strong, proactive financial and business stewardship.
  • Lead, coach, and motivate direct reports in a manner that builds trust, respect, and credibility.
  • Collaborate with Government and the other Regional Health Authorities in the evolution of a new shared services structure for Supply Chain Management for Healthcare in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. 
  • Participate in the development of other provincial shared services structures, as appropriate.
