The Position

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice President, Corporate Services and CFO (VP CFO) is an influential member of the Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for providing operational and strategic financial direction to the organization, as well as for the daily operations of specific support programs such as Purchasing, Food and Environmental Services, Business Development, Security Services, Capital and Facility Maintenance. The VP CFO will provide overall leadership for the corporate services continuum of programs and have corporate-wide responsibilities that include policy formulation, planning and decision making on matters affecting the organization. In addition, the VP CFO will work collaboratively with the President and CEO and the Executive Team to guide operations across all of the organization.

Inherent in the role will be the ability of the VP CFO to lead and facilitate the optimization of funding across the hospital, consistent with best practice approaches and local plans, with continual focus on superior patient outcomes and a quality patient experience. The VP CFO will also play a key role, in partnership with the senior team, in the areas of short and long-term capital planning and funding, quality and risk management, financial and utilization management and strategic financial planning.

Key leadership initiatives for the new VP/CFO will be to:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership regarding financial opportunities and challenges, projected growth and government funding changes, business planning and risk management initiatives.
  • Continue to advance a financial strategy that effectively positions Corporate Services as strategic business partners across the organization.
  • In collaboration with members of the Senior Leadership Team, support the advancement of several large-scale initiatives such as the health system implementation, pension plan merger and future master planning.
  • Contribute insight and analysis to strategic policy development and analysis on hospital funding and financial sustainability.
  • Continue to build internal and external leadership and relationship capacity within a multi-stakeholder environment.


GRH requires an accomplished senior-level financial executive, capable of excelling in a complex multi-stakeholder environment. This position will require an individual that can continue to advance a strong corporate services team through mentoring and succession planning. The incumbent must be an outstanding communicator and possess excellent financial analytical abilities.

The successful candidate will have at least seven to ten years progressive experience in health care and/or a similarly complex public sector environment. In addition to possessing a graduate degree and accounting designation, the candidate will be a change agent, inspiring leader and engaged team player. In addition, the candidate will have an understanding of working across a diverse/complex business environment, with a track record of exemplary business acumen, ethical leadership, business integrity and financial innovation.
