Cancer Care Treatment Units
The Chemotherapy Suite has 33 chair/bed care spots and the Oncology Day Unit has 7 chair/bed care spots located within the London Regional Cancer Program at the Victoria Hospital site of LHSC. Nurses receive extensive specialized education in the administration of chemotherapy, safe handling of cytotoxic agents and managing patient related care. Nurses care for patients with central lines, those requiring transfusions and other cancer related medications and infusions. The Oncology Day Unit services patients requiring care/treatments associated with their illness and chemotherapy/clinic visits. Team work is essential in this fast-paced and challenging environment.
Cancer Care Clinic Services
Located on Level 2 of the London Regional Cancer Program at the Victoria Hospital Site of LHSC. The clinic has four outpatient clinics where patients are seen in consultation related to their cancer diagnosis and are assessed for treatment and follow-up care.
Oncology Nurses are a core component of patient care in the clinics. Nurses provide assessments, patient teaching, telephone consultations, and offer support and guidance to both patients and their families. Exceptional communication and time management skills allow them to adapt to a continuously changing and challenging environment.
Cancer Care Adult Inpatient
Cancer Care Adult Inpatient is the adult oncology inpatient unit of the London Regional Cancer Program (LRCP). Care consists of assessment and treatment including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, brachytherapy, radioisotope therapy, blood and bone marrow transplantation, symptom management and some palliation
