The College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) is hiring a new Regulatory Learning Advisor (RL Advisor). 

In this role, you will provide resources, services and guidance to registrants, consultants, employers, nursing education programs and other stakeholders to support their understanding and application of the Standards of Practice to ensure ethical and competent care in BC.

What you will be doing 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Regulatory Learning and Quality Assurance, and working as a key member of the team, the RL Advisor acts as a guide, educator, facilitator and coach. 

The RL Advisor plans, develops, delivers and evaluates regulatory learning resources, provides services to registrants and students, and engages stakeholders. 

The RL Advisor also informs and supports nurses and students in understanding and applying the Standards of Practice, by working within the Registrant Quality Assurance Program, Student Program and registrant learning. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Planning, developing, and evaluating the programs and services to support regulatory learning. This includes dissemination of and applications of standard related to the Quality Assurance program, student program and ongoing registrant learning. 
  • Ensuring programs and services are evidence-based, efficient and effective and reflect leading practices and relational regulation. 
  • Using validated tools, interviews and coaches registrants in applying their quality assurance feedback. 
  • Supporting registrants in meeting their QA requirements by assessing their needs to promote high practice standards. 
  • Facilitating and managing regulatory learning related to Standards dissemination and ongoing registrant learning. 
  • Facilitating, contributing to, and managing regulatory learning related to the student program. 
  • Responding to requests for information about Standards and Quality Assurance programs and services and document interactions as required. 
  • Participating and contributing to policy development for the department. 

Skills and abilities 

Education and Experience 

  • Baccalaureate of Nursing required. Master’s degree in Nursing, Business Administration, or Adult Education required. 
  • Seven to ten years of experience in a variety of nursing practice settings. Experience in a variety of clinical, education and administrative and/or outreach roles is preferred. 
  • Experience in adult education development, and delivery of workshops and presentation is required. Experience developing online materials and developing and delivering online education in a web based environment is preferred. 
  • Experience with basic project management methodologies and demonstrated ability to achieve project deliverables in a timely manner. 


  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to interact, communicate, and maintain good relations with registrants and other key stakeholders. 
  • Excellent organization, planning and facilitation skills to effectively manage and meet timelines for concurrent projects. 
  • Experience supporting others through preceptorship, mentorship or coaching. 
  • Knowledge of and experience in the application of regulatory practices, legislation related to regulation and nursing practice, and professional and practice standards an asset. 
  • Working level knowledge and experience using MS Office 2010. MS CRM Dynamics, and MS SharePoint experience an asset. 

Note: This position works out of the CRNBC office in Vancouver, BC. Provincial travel is required. 

Must hold practicing registration in good standing with CRNBC or be eligible for practicing registration with CRNBC.
