Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Health Policy & Promotion, the Advisor is responsible for conducting research and analysis on health and health system policy, legislation, regulations and practice issues to support OMA advocacy initiatives.


  • Conducts evidence-based health policy research and analysis to support health and health system policy and program development and submission preparation, researching relevant health policy/system literature and jurisdictional reviews, analyzing and synthesizing relevant information/data and providing summaries for review;
  • Prepares policy statements, discussion/background papers and briefing materials on policy, practice, legislative and systems issues affecting the medical profession in Ontario for internal and external stakeholder review, reviewing document requirements, ensuring all pertinent information is gathered and incorporated, clarifying details, following up on outstanding information as required;
  • Monitors emerging legislative, policy and political issues and health system trends and best practices, assessing impacts on Health Policy programs and initiatives and providing recommendations;
  • Implements member consultation/survey projects and initiatives, managing project plans and timelines, developing consultation tools and data-gathering questionnaires, coordinating people and resources, responding to participant queries, analyzing and consolidating data/information gathered, synthesizing results and developing final summary reports.

Education: Undergraduate Degree in Health Administration Services or equivalent.

Experience: 2-5 years health policy planning and research experience
