HealthForceOntario Marketing and Recruitment Agency (the agency) is hiring a permanent Manager, Human Resources to manage and provide leadership on the agency’s HR functions. 

As a credible leader with 5-7 years’ management experience and a CHRL designation, you can lead, develop and facilitate HR initiatives that align with the agency’s strategic objectives. Being adept at thinking critically and broadly will assist you when providing advice, guidance and recommendations to enable the delivery of HR programs and services. Your ability to analyze and interpret emerging trends and systemic issues enables you to recommend solutions that will effect positive change. Motivated by creating efficiencies, you focus efforts on continuous improvement and creativity. You have a flair for writing employee communications in such a way that is impactful and inspires trust. 

On any given day, you are expected to: 

  • Provide advice, guidance and recommendations to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), peer managers and employees on a range of human resources matters within the context of the agency’s direction, policies and practices, legislative compliance, and best human resources practices. 
  • Develop and communicate HR policies and procedures that are aligned with the agency’s goals. 
  • Lead vendor tendering and negotiation of the agency’s benefits plan. 
    • Manage and communicate changes/enhancements to benefits programs. 
    • Analyze and assess trends in benefits and recommend adjustments to the plan to ensure competitiveness in the marketplace. 
  • Participate as a management member on Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC). 
    • Ensure agency and JHSC is compliant with related legislation and regulations through regular audit of Committee activities. 
  • Develop and hold responsibility for the human resources budget. 
  • Lead research and analyze in adopting impactful employee engagement initiatives geared towards establishing and maintaining a positive culture and provides recommendations to SLT. 
  • Lead internal and/or external stakeholders on the development, implementation and review of engagement initiatives and provide updates to SLT. 
  • Lead, research, develop and deliver training and development opportunities for SLT, peer managers and employees. 
  • Lead the job description and job evaluation processes with members of the Job Evaluation Committee (JEC). 
  • Lead, research, develop and facilitate HR initiatives that align with the agency’s strategic objectives (e.g. engagement surveys, job descriptions and salary banding, performance management, special projects/activities). 
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, operational and functional guidance, and mentorship to HR team members. 
  • Write business cases, develop evaluation criteria and participate in the evaluation of responses and recommendations for the award of HR-related vendor contracts.
