Job Summary:

Reporting to the Vice-President, Planning Quality and Information Management, the Regional Director, Education and Training will have accountability for building a renewed education service for Northern Health by advancing the strategic vision for education services, building a culture of continuous learning, and leading organizational change and improvement across clinical and non-clinical domains.

Job Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in education or a health sciences discipline;
  • Minimum ten (10) years’ recent, related educational and operational management experience in a complex health care environment, including progressive education, research, project management and leadership experience;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current practicing registration with an applicable regulatory body/association such as the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) or the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Thorough familiarity with current trends and issues related to clinical education programs for health care professional and students.
  • Knowledge and understanding of clinical practice legislation, statutes and regulations and as related to educational standards and practices.
  • Understanding of the functioning of clinical networks (e.g. Partnership Practice Councils).
  • Ability to identify opportunities that advances a culture of learning and competent clinical practice.
  • Knowledge of health care structures and educational systems.
  • Ability to lead the development of clinical orientation programs.
  • Ability to develop and write proposals, projects and research documents.
  • Ability to manage staff and budgets effectively.
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers and related technology.
