IMAGINE a hospital where everyone is committed to excellence. We did. We are. From boardroom to bedside, we go above and beyond to offer the best and safest patient care. At North York General Hospital, we put our patients first in everything we do. We are achieving a new standard of excellence in integrated patient-centred care, and as one of Canada's leading community academic hospitals, we are building on our academic foundation through enhanced education, research and innovation. As part of our dynamic team, you too can stand out and be amazing! At North York General, our team is making a world of difference.

Clinical Team Manager, Medicine Unit and Respiratory Therapists

Your goal in this position is to ensure operational and clinical excellence, while facilitating the provision of an outstanding patient and family experience. You will do this by providing outstanding leadership and accountability, and the promotion of high quality evidence-based care. You will take on responsibility for the physical, financial, and human resources of the unit/clinic/department, and ensure the clinical and regulatory compliance of the team. We also want you to be a great relationship builder, and foster close contacts with peers across the entire organization. You also have great interpersonal skills, and you effortlessly connect with physicians, staff, patients, and families. You will take on the shared responsibility for ensuring that health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families. The position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation.

The best clinical team managers are:

  • Flexible  they embrace the challenge of problem solving in a fast paced environment, and are eager to engage with new challenges every single day
  • Leaders  they understand that true leadership is not about telling people what to do  it’s about collaboration, consensus-building and true team engagement
  • Great Communicators  they communicate effectively with colleagues, staff, volunteers and families. Information flows freely, allowing their team to operate at a high level, and their patients to feel cared for and secure. They respect privacy and confidentiality
  • Decisive  at the end of the day, they have the ability to make the big decisions, to take ownership of their actions, and work in the best interests of the hospital as a whole
  • Safety Conscious  they know that keeping everyone safe and healthy is the highest priority, and follow all H&S policies and guidelines to provide a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families

Working at NYGH means working with a dynamic team of fellow healthcare providers, staff, and volunteers in one of Canada’s leading hospitals. This is a full-time, regular position, which requires mostly day shifts for the Respiratory Therapy Team and Medical Respiratory Unit (8 West). This position also requires organization-wide on-call responsibilities. We offer a highly competitive total compensation package that includes benefits, pension, and vacation.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with a minimum of a Master’s degree (or in progress)
  • Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
