The Executive Vice President, Clinical Operations and Chief Operating Officer (EVP/COO) reports to the President and CEO of Hamilton Health Sciences, and is a trusted advisor to the CEO. The Executive Vice President, Clinical Operations and Chief Operating Officer (EVP/COO) is accountable for strategic and operational leadership over patient care delivery across HHS. As a key member of the President’s Team and Executive Leadership Team, the EVP/COO’s leadership is integral to HHS being able to deliver on its Mission, Vision and Values in the context of a complex and challenging environment. This requires a strong appreciation for transformation of the healthcare system and the ability to strategically lead complex systems with creativity, innovation and operational acumen. The EVP/COO provides broad leadership on issues related to the quality of patient and family centered care and is responsible for leading, planning and directing the overall management of HHS’ clinical operations. The EVP/COO works collaboratively with the LHIN, community partners, physicians, other hospital organizations and McMaster University Faculty of Health Sciences to support and enhance the delivery of care within our region and community and to advance the academic mission of the Hospital.

In the ideal, the preferred candidate will have a minimum of ten years experience in the leadership of a comparable portfolio, acquired in an academic health science centre or regional health authority, or within an organization of similar scope and complexity. The successful candidate will possess a Masters degree in business or health related discipline, coupled with a progressive track record preferably established in senior health systems leadership, ideally encompassing a robust and comprehensive spectrum of health services, replete with a dossier of demonstrated achievements, accompanied by an impeccable reputation and superior ability to build strong relationships and partnerships.
