Health Quality Ontario (HQO) is the provincial advisor on the quality of health care in Ontario, evaluating the effectiveness of health care technologies and services, providing evidence-based recommendations, reporting to the public on the quality of the health system, and supporting the spread of quality improvement throughout the system.
Reporting to the Manager of Health Equity, and under the direction of the Chief of Clinical Quality and Manager of Health Equity, the Health Equity Lead will support the continued development and execution of Health Quality Ontario’s Health Equity Strategic Roadmap.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO DO?
As a member of the Health Equity Team, the Lead will be responsible for the following activities to support HQO’s Health Equity Strategic Plan/Roadmap.
Analysis & Writing
Leading and/or supporting analytical activities and environmental scans
Reviewing, interpreting and synthesizing information from diverse sources (e.g. internet, engagement consultations, reports)
Writing HQO Equity Office Documents in collaboration and consultation with internal and external stakeholders
Communications & Stakeholder Engagement
Preparing various types of communication products including reports, PowerPoint presentations and briefing notes for a diverse audience including the public
Establishing and maintaining strong internal and external relationships
Collaborating with other HQO business areas and external stakeholders to seek input and validate work
Providing regular updates/status reports as required, presenting and participating in meetings and committees
Project Planning & Execution
Developing and managing work plans; escalating issues and coordinating deliverables with other HQO health equity activities
Executing delivery of work plan activities in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
Supporting the Health Equity Manager in managing budgets, reporting and/or additional administrative activities
Leading and/or supporting other health equity activities as required
Providing leadership as a senior staff member within the Heath Equity team
HOW DO I QUALIFY?
To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:
An undergraduate degree, preferably in the social sciences, health promotion, healthcare administration, communications or a related field of study
Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Health Promotion, Healthcare Administration or a related field is preferred
Minimum of 7 years of experience working in a health care environment in a related role
Demonstrated experience supporting the development and/or execution of provincial or regional strategic plans
Leading and/or supporting initiatives/projects focused on improving health equity at a regional or provincial level is an asset
Excellent written and verbal communication skills within all levels of the organization
Knowledge and understanding of Ontario’s health system and health issues
Strong understanding of the social determinants of health
Experience in executing strategic plans
Working in cross functional teams
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize competing workload demands
Previous experience working in a health care environment
Working knowledge of key health equity concepts, issues and trends
Extensive proficiency in MS Office Suite skills, in particular Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Mature leadership experience in building strong relationships and achieving consensus
Exceptional organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deliverables on schedule with high quality results
Excellent judgment skills in setting priorities, identifying issues, problem-solving and structured approaches to determining and executing solutions
Professional, reliable and detail oriented
