Position: Vice President, Healthcare Reports To: Senior Vice President, Industry Relations Tier: Executive Department: IR Healthcare Company: GS1 Canada Location: Toronto Status: Full time, Permanent Key Role A member of the senior management team with GS1 Canada, the Vice President, Industry Relations (Healthcare) has demonstrated strengths in developing stakeholder relationships, sector deployment strategies, team development and building organizational capability to achieve strategic goals. Bringing passion and strategic thinking, the Vice President delivers on the mission of GS1 Canada’s healthcare strategy, which aims to improve patient safety, as well as health system visibility and efficiencies through the adoption of a common system of global supply chain standards. The individual performing this role will have exceptional knowledge of the Canadian Healthcare system from the point of procurement to patient care delivery. This individual will report to the Senior Vice President, Industry Relations (Healthcare Sector), and works closely with other department heads to define the healthcare strategy and work collaboratively in order to execute associated internal and external requirements. Key Metrics can include: achievement of sector board objectives/milestones, development of a health sector deployment strategy, and achieving targets for cost recovery and sector engagement. Duties and Responsibilities Applies extensive knowledge of the healthcare system and healthcare business operations to develop and implement the healthcare strategy; Creates and delivers strategic planning documentation to direct key goals and deliverables of the sector and internal team; Engages senior level healthcare leaders to champion strategy development and execution; Facilitates the Carenet Healthcare Sector Board, and oversees expert work groups and committees that deliver board mandates; Fosters a work environment where employees are highly motivated, hard working, superior contributors and view GS1 Canada as a career destination; Develops and maintains relationships and/or partnership with key associations, industry stakeholders and government; Promotes health system quality and patient safety by educating and creating awareness, facilitating members to drive adoption and implementation, gathering metrics and publishing related research; Participates in industry events associated with assigned sectors and provides strategic insight to key internal stakeholders in order to deliver and maximize opportunities; Leads and implements the Healthcare strategy according to Memorandums of Understanding (MOU’s) and protocols, to ensure contracts are signed and delivered upon; Consults collaboratively with other department leaders required to deliver stakeholder requirements; Manages revenue and expense budgets in alignment with strategic initiatives; Provides leadership, strategic development, coaching and performance support to the Healthcare team to ensure highly effective team performance and skills growth; Develops an in-depth understanding of key business drivers and proactively provides ideas and solutions within GS1 Canada to enhance performance through improved stakeholder service delivery, processes and policies; Communicates projected costs and timelines for all assigned projects to ensure execution of projects are on time and within budget to senior executive; Negotiates relevant business contracts, soliciting involvement of other management team members as required; Effectively manages external outsource resources in order to align with GS1 Canada commitments and budgets; Performs various other duties as delegated or assigned; Required knowledge, skills & experience Preference given to an MHA, MBA or other related post graduate studies; 7 - 10 years related experience within the Healthcare sector, with executive level strategic leadership, stakeholder relationship and direct management experience; Professional designations such as Certified Health Executive (CHE) an asset; Bilingualism (French & English) is an asset; In-depth proven working knowledge of the healthcare system with preference given to those within a healthcare institution and/or a shared service (i.e. group purchasing and distribution); Clinical background and/or experience in supply chain is a strong asset; In-depth understanding of the key business drivers that enhance health human performance, patient safety and overall healthcare supply chain and trading partner efficiencies; Proven experience in project management competencies including a high level of working knowledge of project management techniques and methodologies; Ability to articulate and resolve complex project related problems and execute innovative solutions in an environment where multiple and competing priorities are the norm; Proven ability to anticipate potential obstacles and future trends with strategic thinking skills and the ability to put abstract concepts into operational success; Proven ability to interact with and influence the highest levels of management within solution providers, stakeholder communities as well as internal organization; Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form with excellent written, verbal and presentation skills; Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment with multi-disciplinary teams required; Attributes Innovation and strategic thinking Problem solving and critical thinking Relationship and customer driven Written and verbal communications excellence Commitment to continued education Influence without authority GS1 Canada is an equal opportunity employer.
