Job Description: Reporting directly to the Director, In-Patient Medicine & ICU Program, the Clinical Educator is an integral member of the Program’s leadership team. The initial assignment for this educator role will be at the Mississauga Hospital and will focus on supporting patient care on Unit 5J and the coordination of Program-based projects related to operational excellence. The Unit 5J team cares for general medicine patients with complex needs, including patients requiring telemetry and Respirology support. Examples of current projects within the Program include; standardization of clinical protocols/order sets/medical directives/policies/procedures/forms; standardization of staff orientation/education; and practice standardization as part of our planning for implementation of an integrated Health Information System. Key Qualifications: Current registration with the College of Nurse of Ontario and in good standing Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required with a minimum current enrollment in a Master’s degree program or plan to enrol within the year Minimum five years clinical experience; critical care and/or general medicine experience preferred Certification in Coronary Care I, Coronary Care II and Gentle Persuasive Approaches preferred Experience working with seniors with complex medical issues Previous experience in developing and delivering educational programs Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills – both written and verbal Understanding of adult education techniques and ability to prepare and teach in both classroom and clinical settings Ability to coach, mentor and provide feedback while fostering a positive work culture Strong critical thinking, decision making, problem solving and conflict resolution skills Commitment to evidence-based practice and quality improvement Ability to oversee all elements of project plan development, as well as implementation of necessary processes and practices to ensure the Program is delivering on project objectives and goals; Ability to monitor and report on project progress, problems and solutions of the projects to all stakeholders and escalate issues as appropriate; Ability to support and influence a number of multi-stakeholder project work streams Demonstrated ability to multi task, prioritize effectively deliver to deadline Strong working knowledge of computer applications, especially the Microsoft Office suite Excellent performance and attendance record required Internal Candidates who believe they possess the necessary qualifications and experience for this position and who have been in their current position for at least six (6) months are encouraged to apply.
