Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) is a level 3 Trauma Centre for Vancouver Island that serves patients from the Malahat North. Our 10-bed ICU cares for critically ill patients and a new High Acuity Unit was opened on October 1, 2020. Both the ICU and HAU are staffed with specialty trained nurses. A new ICU/HAU building project is currently under development. Additional specialties include renal services. Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH) is a tertiary level hospital that cares for sick medical/surgical patients, with a primary focus on renal, vascular, thoracic, cardiac and burn focused specialties. Our 11-bed ICU cares for critically ill patients and in October 2020, RJH opened a new 8-bed High Acuity Unit, staffed with specialty trained nurses. Victoria General Hospital (VGH) is designated as a level 2 Trauma Centre for Vancouver Island and is the tertiary referral centre for Neurosciences. Additional specialties include maternity, women’s health and pediatrics. Our 9-bed ICU cares for critically ill patients and in the spring of 2021, VGH will expand by an additional six beds.
