Vice President, Finance & Administration Northern College is seeking an outstanding senior executive leader whose insight and commitment will have a profound effect on the future shape and direction of learning and service at the College. Reporting directly to the President, and as a member of the College’s Executive team, the Vice President, Finance and Administration will be responsible for the college- and corporate-wide direction and operation of the Finance, Human Resources, Marketing & Communications, and Facilities. Working closely with a dedicated team of managers and staff, the position will ensure sound, corporate administration in financial matters in accordance with ministry, board and administrative policy. The VP will play a pivotal role in helping to shape the direction of the College as it strives to meet the diverse needs of its communities and the northern economy where he/she can contribute through a strong, respected institution with excellent student outcomes and great community relationships. The Vice President also holds an appointment as Treasurer of the Board of Governors and assists the President in advising the Board on corporate issues, including planning, by-laws, policies, finance and budgeting and facilities management. The Vice President will share accountability for the attainment of the College’s Strategic and Business Plans, and will play a critical leadership role in championing positive change, continuous improvement and organizational/operational effectiveness College-wide. In addition to a relevant academic credentials and a Professional Accounting designation, the ideal candidate will bring a strong record of achievement in leading the financial and administrative affairs of a complex public-sector organization with a demonstrated commitment to a consultative and consensual style of leadership that reflects the governance and multiple stakeholders of the College environment. A proven record of professional integrity and performance, along with strong operational leadership and strong business acumen is required. A proven ability to encourage innovation and collaboration are essential. Other attributes include at least 13 years of progressively senior level management experience related to administrative and fiscal affairs including human resources, labour relations, ancillary business operations, significant familiarity with best practices in strategic planning, risk management and funding development, as well as overseeing complex capital projects and facility renewal projects and operations. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, strategic visionary capacity and a commitment to positive community development. The current salary band (16) for the position is $126,716 to $168,954* per annum (*The salary range is presently under review. The proposed new range is $137,000 to $178,260). The position is eligible for an annual Performance Incentive of up to 15%.
