Located in the beautiful community of Nelson, the Kootenay Lake Hospital Perinatal & Medical/Surgical Department is a very active and busy unit. Our nursing team work collaboratively to provide outstanding perinatal and medical/surgical care. We are looking for a self-directed, motivated, reliable and flexible Registered Nurse who enjoys working in a team environment and has a strong desire to learn. Put your perinatal & medical/surgical nursing skills into full motion and join the passionate and welcoming nursing staff. We have a very active maternity unit where all nurses cover labour, delivery and postpartum as well as some nursery for minor issues, growers and infants being stabilized prior to transport out. Nurses must also be able to care for post-operative gyne surgery patients and overflow medical patients. There are three delivery suites, three post-partum beds and ten bassinettes with 350 deliveries a year. Shift types for this position are days, nights and shift times rotate from 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 hours. Qualifications: Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC). Advanced preparation in a Perinatal clinical specialty or an equivalent combination of education & experience. Current Fetal Health Surveillance. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NPR) within 2 years.
