Clinical Nurse Specialist – PCICU Clinical Regular Full Time City: Edmonton, Alberta Location: Stollery Childrens Hospital Posting End Date: 22-FEB-2018 Salary Range: $42.33 - $56.80 Your Opportunity: The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a Registered Nurse who holds a master’s or doctoral degree in nursing and “has in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment, and clinical expertise in a nursing specialty” (CNA 2008). The CNS promotes excellence in nursing through the advanced practice domains of clinician, leader, consultant, researcher and educator and integrates these competencies into practice environments. Description: As a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), you will provide an advanced level of nursing practice that maximizes the application of in-depth nursing theory, knowledge and skills in meeting the complex health care needs of individuals, families and communities. You will function as a nursing practice leader, consultant, expert practitioner, educator and researcher within a clinical specialty area. You will balance various roles depending upon the needs of the patient population and the healthcare team, collaborating on the provision of holistic and comprehensive care. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications: Current PALS certification. Minimum 3 years of pediatric critical care experience. Minimum of 2 years progressive leadership within a specialized program area in a healthcare organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of independence within a multi-layered reporting structure and with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and coach multidisciplinary teams. Effective communicator possessing strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of independence within a multi-layered reporting structure and with internal and external stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: Recent experience in educational program design and delivery. Experience and knowledge of quality improvement, research methods, systematic reviews and critical appraisal skills. Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and coach multidisciplinary teams. Familiarity with quality improvement databases and software. Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and initiative. Knowledge of Accreditation Canada standards and processes.
