Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Job Summary & Requirements: The Manager of Hematology - Oncology Services works collaboratively with the Oncology Leadership Team at RVH as well as regional partners within the North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN. As an integral member of the Oncology Leadership Team, the Manager demonstrates the utilization and application of specialized knowledge and expertise on recent advances in benign and malignant hematology in order to facilitate the effective management of clinical activities. This will involve the coordination of in-patient and out-patient complex malignant hematology patient care and continuity in patient care management and active participations in regional Quality Improvement initiatives within the Regional Hematology Program. The Hematology - Oncology Manager demonstrates effective leadership, planning and management skills, combined with exceptional problem solving and change management abilities in both an inpatient and outpatient setting. A system thinker, the Hematology - Oncology Manager understands continuous improvement and lean principles to continue to enhance and improve the patient experience. Education: Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required with Masters Preparation preferred. Valid Registered Nurse license is required Experience: Minimum of five years progressive experience in acute healthcare setting. Minimum five years progressive management/leadership experience Prior ambulatory oncology clinic leadership experience required. Previous malignant hematology experience preferred. Prior experience managing large projects preferred. Experience working in the cancer system is required. Experience in managing competing demands in a face-paced, multi-focused, multidisciplinary health care environment. Competencies: Strong interpersonal and a collaborative communication skills. Excellent decision making skills. Ability to successfully manage change. Knowledge of, and experience with the concept of the Person Centred Care required. Proficiency in measuring, trending, interpreting and reporting data. Experienced in analysis of key performance indicators and developing action plans that deliver results. Responsibilities include: • Onboarding new providers and staff, coordinating patient flow, facilities planning and services and practice operations. • Works collaboratively with oncologists, the interprofessional team and the cancer leadership team to provide a continuum of patient care from prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and survivorship. • Complies with provincial, and local license requirements to maintain high level of quality standards. • Develops departmental initiatives that focus on employee engagement, process improvement initiatives, patient satisfaction, and workplace safety. • Acts as a resource and facilitates collaboration between team members and other healthcare disciplines throughout the organization and within the healthcare community. • Seeks out opportunities to build relationships with providers, hospital and specialty peers, and other resources who can contribute to the success of service line initiatives. • Assists in developing, implementing, monitoring, and revising program-specific guidelines essential to the achievement of service line initiatives and fostering program growth. • Implements special projects as required which includes implementation of new systems, necessary construction and maintenance of facilities. • Develops and monitors relationships with outside agencies and other departments; encourages community education by initiating participation in community events to promote awareness and enhance public relations. • Manages and oversees the necessary inventory for the hematology/oncology clinics ensuring equipment and devices are well-maintained and set up properly. • Assists with the implementation of comprehensive cancer care working with fiscal, administrative, clinical and medical teams to best meet the needs of communities. • Participates in provider recruitment and supports onboarding and continuing medical education. • Works closely with the providers developing business strategies, formulating budgets, and dealing with daily operations. • Executes projects and changes in collaboration with the providers. • Manages providers' daily schedules to ensure full utilization. • Works collaboratively with physician and advance practice clinicians to optimize patient care. • Assists with fee analysis and surveys, and reviews recommendations with physicians. • Demonstrates leadership skills by coordinating the daily activities of the clinic sites.
